So what is an ideal diet?

An ideal diet is one that follows a healthy eating pyramid like the one on this site. It is a diet based on vegetables, up to 90% of your calories consumed should be from vegetables, beans, fruit, seeds, nuts, and whole grains.

Less than 10% from animal proteins and oils, and almost no processed foods like rice, breads and pastas.

Most importantly, an ideal diet is a diet that consists of food with a high nutrient to calorie content.

Healthy eating is not a quick weight loss diet or one of the unhealthy fad diets like the Atkins Diet or the South Beach Diet. It is a lifestyle change that can dramatically change your health and improve your life.

Many people that have been over weight for years have used healthy eating to lose dramatic amounts of weight and keep it off for the rest of their lives without drugs or fad diets.

They have also reduced their blood pressure and cholesterol, reversed heart disease and stopped taking medication for a number of different diseases. They have done this with a high nutrient ideal diet.

Do you think you can trust the government?

I want to help to give people the information they can't get in school, or from the government, or even from most of the medical community. You have to take responsibility for learning about your own health and the health of your family. You have to be informed.

How can a agency like the USDA be trusted? They are supposed to promote agribusiness like meat and dairy and they are supposed to support public health. How can they do both?

They Can't!

They give the meat and dairy industries almost $150 million a year in subsidies to promote their products. They then warn the public not to eat so much fat. They definitely have a conflict of interest there.

They are not going to come out and tell you not to eat meat or cheese. They just tell you to cut back.  Besides, if we were all healthy, we wouldn't need Obamacare.

Please explore this site and use the info you get here to help you make decisions to improve your health and make life more enjoyable. Getting to an ideal diet is not going to happen overnight, it takes time and effort to make the lifestyle changes necessary to get there but it can be done. For some people it is very easy, for others it is very difficult. The sooner you start the sooner you begin to feel better and live a better life.
